Security Camera Agreement & Acknowledgment

1. Purpose of Security Cameras 

The Independent Living Program uses security cameras to help promote the safety, security, and well-being of participants, staff, visitors, and property. 

Security cameras are intended to: 

● Deter criminal activity 

● Monitor common areas for safety concerns 

● Assist with incident review when necessary 


2. Camera Locations 

Security cameras may be installed in common areas only, which may include: 

● Building entrances and exits 

● Hallways 

● Parking areas 

● Shared living spaces (excluding private areas) 


Security cameras are NOT installed in private areas, including but not limited to: 

● Bedrooms 

● Bathrooms 

● Showers 

● Changing areas


3. Audio Recording

If audio recording is used, it will comply with applicable state and local laws.


4. Privacy Expectations 

Participants understand that while reasonable privacy is respected, there is no expectation of privacy in common areas monitored by security cameras. 

Camera footage will not be used to monitor personal behavior unless related to safety, rule violations, or incidents involving program policy. 


5. Use & Storage of Footage 

● Recorded footage is confidential and securely stored 

● Access to footage is limited to authorized program staff 

● Footage may be reviewed for safety, policy enforcement, or incident investigation ● Footage may be shared with law enforcement only when legally required 

Footage is retained for a limited period in accordance with program policy, unless needed for an investigation. 


6. Tampering & Misuse 

Participants agree not to: 

● Tamper with, damage, block, or disable cameras 

● Attempt to access or view recorded footage without authorization 

Tampering with security cameras may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination from housing. 


7. No Continuous Monitoring

Participants understand that security cameras are not actively monitored 24/7 and do not replace personal responsibility, emergency services, or staff supervision. 


8. Consent & Acknowledgment 

By signing below, the participant acknowledges that they: 

● Have been informed of the presence and purpose of security cameras

● Understand where cameras are and are not located 

● Consent to being recorded in common areas 

● Agree to comply with all related program policies
